Design & Technology

At Larkfield Primary School; Design & Technology aims to inspire pupils to be innovative and creative thinkers who have an appreciation for the product design cycle through ideation, creation and evaluation.  In line with the National Curriculum, each year children complete a variety of creative and practical activities.  In each topic, they research, design, make and evaluate a product, ensuring that previous skills are built upon and new ones are developed each year.

In Design & Technology, children acquire a broad range of subject knowledge from construction skills to cooking, drawing upon other subjects such as mathematics, science, computing and art. Children learn how to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens. Through the evaluation of past and present Design and Technology, they develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world
